Projects in Theatre Skills (PiTS)
was formed in January 2000 by a group of experienced
professionals and teachers to encourage and develop
theatre skills in the community through a programme
of projects and workshops. Since then it has been joined
by others from theatrical backgrounds to form the current
core group.
PiTS is a non profit making organisation
that reinvests revenue in new projects. It is our aim
to support the work of other groups in the community
who may need technical advice or resources for their
own projects. We also initiate projects ourselves that
provide opportunities for community involvement in theatre
arts.
Education is a key feature of our
work and people who enrol for projects, in addition
to attending rehearsals, are encouraged to participate
in workshops on the technical aspects of theatre. As
far as possible participants work as a team to manage
and take forward the projects themselves. Our role is
to help people learn and practice new skills. To learn
more about our training work, please see the details
in 'Our Departments' under 'Training'.
