From small complaints to life changing events – whatever you’re facing, we’ll be right by your side

Life storms affect us all but each one is unique.

Sometimes, with a little bit of signposting we can successfully ride it out.
Sometimes, we can afford to pay someone else to sort it all for us.

Sometimes, we need something in between and for that, there’s Port In The Storm.

At Port In The Storm (PITS for short) we offer an innovative way to provide support that fills the void between these two extremes. We want to help you navigate your particular circumstances in a way that doesn’t put your financial security at risk.

We offer support tailored to your situation, rather than the often generic free advice found elsewhere. We are interested in your personal storm. Whether it’s just an impartial view, or more tactical support, we’re here to provide that check-in point for when it all gets a bit overwhelming and you just need a Port In The Storm.

The life storms we’re talking about can really be anything that is making your life more difficult than usual. Employment, housing, probate, complaints… the list goes on. Whatever your storm is, talk to us today about how we can help.

Share your story

At PITS we’re in a great position to identify commonalities between people’s unique storms. It’s easy to feel alone in a challenging situation, wondering “why me?” and yet it may not just be you. If you have a complaint with an organisation then maybe you’re not the only one. If we spot a trend then we can look to take this forward to try to change things – whether that’s directly challenging the organisation or raising it with a governing body, for example. That doesn’t necessarily mean that your story has to be shared but you can help us to paint a bigger picture.

We try to keep our fees as affordable as possible and one way we do that is with the helping hand of our amazing volunteers. If you’re an empathic people person then you could help with our front line support. Or maybe you prefer to be in the background – there’s plenty to do there too. Meet the founders

We know that not everybody can afford the expense of legal help. We also know that, whilst there are some wonderful sources of free advice, it can be difficult to match these up perfectly to your unique situation.

At PITS, we believe that everyone deserves a helping hand when navigating life’s storms and so we provide a service that bridges the gap between free and costly.
We’re also on a mission to inform change. Sometimes the life storms you tell us about connect with others’ and form a trend. At PITS, we have the unique advantage of being able to see this bigger picture and can use this knowledge to try to change things for the better. Maybe your storm is a key piece of that jigsaw!

As an independent organisation we’re here to serve your needs, not that of shareholders or public bodies, so we can be truly impartial.
